Golf buggies – we love them, and they’re a fantastic way to play golf well into your senior years or through injuries and illnesses. Golf buggies allow you to conserve your strength for where it’s needed – your game – and to traverse the course with ease.
However, once you’ve finished using your buggy, you need to store it, which comes with its own set of problems and requirements. And many people wonder how easy it is to transport said golf buggy to and from the course. After all, no one wants to spend hours folding and transporting their golf buggy, when all you really want to do is play the game you love. A golf buggy is a means to that end, but you do need to consider how and where you’ll store it, and how easy it will be to transport it. So, let’s have a look at everything you need to know about storing and transporting your golf buggy.
Storing your golf buggy – what not to do
Your golf buggy is a valuable investment in your game and in your longevity as a golfer, so you need to ensure you make it last as long as possible. Storing it correctly is one way to do this.
First, you need to find the correct place to store your buggy when not in use. If you leave it outside and exposed to the elements without suitable protection or cover, your buggy will eventually develop problems such as fading, corrosion and general damage.
Storing your golf buggy – what to do
Proper golf cart storage will protect your golf buggy from damaging elements, keep it in good and usable condition, and extend its lifespan.
To prevent unnecessary damage, your golf buggy is best stored in a dry and ventilated area without huge temperature fluctuations. A covered area, like a garage or shed, is ideal. If that’s not possible, story your buggy in an undercover area like a covered patio or carport. If you have no other option but to store it outside, at least invest in a buggy cover to protect it as much as possible from the elements. Exposure to sunlight, extreme temperatures, humidity, and UV rays can all cause damage to the electrical components, the paint and the interior. As well, make sure to park it on a flat surface rather than a slope, as this will cause excess pressure on the tyres and wheels.
Wherever you store it, make sure you position and secure the buggy where it can’t roll away.
Here are a few other things to do before you put your golf buggy away until its next use:
- Check for perishable food in compartments, and remove them
- Give the buggy a quick wipe down if it’s dusty or dirty
- Check the tyre pressure and add some air if necessary
- Make sure the battery is fully charged, and charge it if necessary
- Quickly run your eye over terminals and cords every so often to check for any damage or corrosion
Your golf buggy will thus remain in optimal condition and then be ready to go next time you need it!
Transporting your golf buggy
If you buy a Parmaker golf buggy (check out our high quality range of walker and ride on golf buggies here), transportation is quick, simple and easy!
All you need to do is disassemble a few components of the buggy, fold it away and place it in your boot – and yes, they will fit into the boots of most cars, including small cars. Click here to view some quick, handy videos showing how easily our walker and ride on buggies fold away into a car boot (and the longest video is 54 seconds, so that should tell you something about the speed at which this process can be done).
The lightweight construction of our buggies means that they are easily broken down for storage and transport, and can just as easily be put back together by just about anyone. And if you prefer to keep your car boot free for other things, we also offer a handy car carrier for our ride on buggies that will allow you to transport your buggy neatly on the back of your car.
So, follow these few best practices for storing and transporting your golf buggy, and you’ll have many happy years on the golf course ahead of you to enjoy!
