LADIES SUPPORT MYRTLEFORD GOLF CLUB
Myrtleford Golf Club has a great band of lovely ladies who look after the members and visitors in a most efficient and friendly manner they serve delicious meals make a wonderful contribution to the club.
This years’ annual Intra-zone match played between the Dalhousie, Goulburn Valley and North Eastern Districts was held at the Euroa Golf Club on Monday May 19th.
Golfers were favored with a beautiful and sunny Autumn day, on a course extremely well presented, with the hospitality provided, second to none.
The winner this year was the Dalhousie District with an aggregate score of 989, who proved too good for the Goulburn Valley, with 975, and the Northeast with 931.
The Vice/President of Dalhousie, Bill Cleary, spoke to the golfers on the history of the Ralph Sneyd “Perpetual trophy”. Ralph was a former president of the VVGA for two years, 1993-94, and was a Councillor for the Central Zone for many years.
As Vice/President for Dalhousie Bill accepted the trophy with a great deal of pleasure.
The best scorers for each district were presented with trophies.
For Dalhousie, Karl Gibbons returned a card of 40 points followed by Keith Bray 37. Goulburn Valley saw Lionel McGee with the best score of 39 followed by the evergreen Bob Dixon with 37.
At least North Eastern provided the best score for the day which came from Rob Forrest with a fine 42 points, followed by another evergreen in Keith Cundy 39.
Overall the day was voted a great success.

North Eastern District Veteran Golfers
On Monday February 23rd 189 veterans from the North East played in the second round of the association championships at the beautiful Bright Country Golf Club.
The Bright course was presented in superb condition. The club through the large number of volunteers ensured that the day ran smoothly.
The championship was decided after two rounds, with the first round having been played at Yarrawonga in January.
Geoff Brown from the Mansfield club won the championship with a fine two round total of 76 stableford points. He had three to spare from runner up John Arthur from Corowa.
In B division Vic Lees from the Howlong club won with a total of 74 points, from George Ward, on a c/b, with 71 points.
In C division Glen Tomkins from Howlong was the victor with 74 points, from John Simpson< Howlong, 70 points.
The ladies championship was taken out by Wendy Day from Howlong with 65 points.
The days events saw Ross Hore (11) from Wodonga, take out the A grade with 41 points from John Arthur,(8), from Corowa.
The B grade event went to Peter Smith (17) from Beechworth with 36 points from Trevor Lancaster (16), with 36.
Doug Quanchi (21) from Wodonga won C grade with 37 points from John Wiskin(22) also with 37 points.
The D grade went to a new member in Russell Day (29) from Wangaratta with 38 points, from John Dwyer Bandiana (24) with 37.
The ladies event was won by Di Mahlstedt (18) from Yarrawonga with 36 points from Fay Barnes (11) from Howlong with 34 points.
